Stop Trying to Change Your Life — Start Training to Become Her

A mindset shift for women who want lasting change. Stop “trying” and start training your identity for sustainable fitness, strength, and confidence.

I had a powerful conversation with one of our current members recently — the kind that makes you pause and rethink how real transformation actually happens.

We weren’t talking about workouts or nutrition plans.

We were talking about language — and how one small word can determine whether a woman keeps going… or quietly gives herself permission to stop.

The Word That Keeps Women Stuck

For years, I used to say things like:

  • “I’m trying to lose weight.”

  • “I’m trying to change my life.”

  • “I’m trying to be more consistent.”

It sounds harmless. Even motivated.

But what I didn’t realize was this:

When I said trying, I was subconsciously leaving the door open to quit.

Trying implies effort without commitment. Trying suggests, “I’ll do this… unless it gets hard.”

And growth always gets hard.

From Trying to Training: The Identity Shift That Changes Everything

One day it clicked:

I’m not trying to change my life.

I’m training to become the woman who lives it.

That one shift changed everything.

Because training means commitment.

Training means:

  • There is a learning curve

  • Progress isn’t linear

  • Struggle is part of growth

  • Showing up still counts on hard days

You don’t quit training because one workout was tough. You don’t abandon training because change feels uncomfortable.

You adjust. You learn. You continue.

How This Applies to Women’s Fitness and Weight Loss

This is the foundation of how we coach women inside Strongselves.

We don’t believe in:

  • Quick fixes

  • Short-term motivation

  • “Try harder” mentalities

We coach identity-based transformation.

You’re not trying to:

  • Lose weight

  • Get healthier

  • Feel confident again

You’re training to become:

  • A woman who honors her body

  • A woman who follows through

  • A woman who trusts herself

That’s the difference between starting… and staying.

Training to Be the Woman You’re Becoming

As we celebrate five years of Strongselves, I’ll say this honestly:

I’m still training.

Training to be:

  • A present mother

  • A grounded partner

  • A strong business owner

  • A fit, embodied woman

  • A good human

It’s not always easy. It’s not always pretty. And it’s never a straight line.

But training removes shame from the process.

You’re not failing — you’re learning. You’re not behind — you’re building. You’re not broken — you’re becoming.

Stop Trying. Start Training.

If you want lasting change — in your body, your health, or your confidence — stop saying you’re trying.

Say you’re training.

That one word builds discipline, self-trust, and momentum.

And momentum changes lives.

Ready to Train — Not Try?
